Amicus a stunning example of kiwi boat building, designed for long range adventures and to keep her owners safe at sea and proud on anchor.
Amicus is designed by Nick Peal and was commissioned in October 1999. Built by the renowned Salthouse Boatbuilders, who have created an impressive range of vessels during the course of their sixty five plus years in business. From luxury yachts, through to High-tech carbon fibre race yachts and Americas Cup tenders. All carry the same attention to detail, design and quality that can be seen in this example.
In the words of the previous surveyor “She is by a wide margin the best built, outfitted and presented vessel that I have ever inspected.” A 2017 Survey is available to view on request.
This is a very special kauri launch which is capable of long ocean passages. This boat was built with long-range cruising in mind and has achieved Cat 1 in the past to travel offshore.
Her construction is Kauri 28mm strip planked, with double bias glass sheathed outside over laminated frames and floors. The decks are plywood and glass sheathed, all in great condition.
The cockpit is generous with a fold down platform for easy water access.
Inside, the teak and kauri timberwork is beautifully finished. A port aft galley leads on to the cockpit, while the midships salon is in social proximity to the helm station. The layout features a starboard owners cabin with work station, and a forward double cabin. The saloon table drops down to form an additional double berth.
The immaculate engine room is a very special place on this boat, and a sight to behold for any engineer. She is fitted with a 6 cylinder Volvo Penta diesel, a wing motor and a generous complement of electronics.
Some more great features include:
- 3400L fuel
- 700L water
- Gyro stabilizer
- Auxiliary engine
- NZ registered
- Impressive water maker set up
