Designed by Wynne Marine the famous American built 29ft sportfish is the perfect New Zealand cruiser. Originally built in Florida she has an extremely shallow draft to navigate sand banks while still maintaining a deep V. More than 750 of these deep-V, mid-sized fishing machines were built during the boat’s long and successful production run from 1977 to 1987. These boats are prized for their clean lines, large aft cockpit, and robust GRP construction.
Shaft driven by twin Volve Penta 41B engines at 200hp each, the Phoenix can get ahead of weather easily and easy engine bay access through aft deck hatches make mechanical maintenance a breeze.
The flybridge, accessed by a ladder, had a centerline helm station with a bench and is outfitted with rocket launchers, near new carbon spreaders, a livewell, raw-water washdown and other fishing gear. The navigation equipment was upgraded last year to Raymarine Hybrid touch screens. An enclosed cabin that features a private head compartment, a compact galley, and berths for four adults.
One really unique feature of these boats is that they can be put on a trailer due to their recessed props and rudders. A great option if a marina berth is not readily available.
The boat builder Jim Wynne, who died in 1990 was inducted into the National Marine Manufacturers Association Hall of Fame in 1989.
