140 Years of Beneteau: Celebrating a Legacy of Innovation and Excellence

19 November 2024 | 36 Degrees News

In 2024, Beneteau proudly marks its 140th anniversary, celebrating a rich history of innovation, craftsmanship, and passion for the sea. From its beginnings in 1884 as a small shipyard in Croix-de-Vie, France, Beneteau has evolved into one of the world’s most recognized yacht manufacturers.

From Fishing Boats to Luxury Yachts

Founded by Benjamin Beneteau, the company initially crafted durable fishing boats. In the 1960s, Beneteau pivoted to pleasure sailing, launching its first fiberglass sailboat, the Beneteau Guppy, in 1964. This innovation set a new industry standard, paving the way for beloved lines like the Oceanis (focused on comfort and cruising) and the First series (designed for performance sailing).

Celebrating with the Beneteau Owners Rally

To commemorate 140 years of excellence, 36 Degrees Brokers is hosting a special Beneteau Owners Rally on November 23rd at Kawau Island. This event will bring together Beneteau owners and enthusiasts for a day of sailing, camaraderie, and celebration. The rally will feature a friendly race, followed by an afternoon of canapés, music, and prizes to honor Beneteau’s legacy.
